Scavenging: CRT, Motherboard, HardDrive & Capacitors

During the last weekend, I went to my father house and he gave me quite a bit of stuff “for parts”.

First, there was that CRT monitor that I was using (until I got my 20″ Dell Trinitron) that was having problems so my father didn’t wanted it back.  Parts++;

Then, when I visited him (read: helped him), he gave me 2 old Mobos that are broken. One has a scratched PCB and the other one died of … no clue yet. On top of that, I scavenged through my old stuff to find 2 tiny-sized HDDs (less than 2gb) that would be perfect for metal recuperation ( Aluminum…. hummm ^_^ ). Also, I found 2 huge capacitors (that I will probably never use but still, I brought them back home in case I ever need them. I also got both HDDs in pieces already and ready to be melted… erm… to find a new ‘purpose’

MetalCasting: I’m back !

After a… humm, 4-5 years break from metalcasting, I’m going back in it ! That’s right ! Even if I’m slightly traumatized by my last ‘failure’ (too long to tell anyways…), I’m starting to think that I have gain back my will to attempt again at it. This time, I will not be a young idiot and I’ll do it the proper way (instead of ‘cutting corners to save a penny’).

In other words, be sure that my blog will be enhanced with  all the cool stuff like heat, molten metal and Propane burner !

And, just for your enjoyment, here’s what I had done before I took my break 🙂

Furnace & propane burner (burner which… somewhat Exploded 😦 ):

Molten material: ( Aluminum  & Lead/Tin )

HomeMade Ball Mill ( That actually use Bolts & Nutz instead of Balls… but that’s a long story ):

Cool Effect (Don’t try this at IN home !):
